On July 9, Virgin Galactic, Richard Branson’s space tourism venture, announced plans to go public via a deal with Social Capital Hedosophia Holdings Corp., a special purpose acquisition company created by Social Capital CEO Chamath Palihapitiya. This represents the first time public investors will be able to invest directly in the recreational space industry.
