The callous execution of yet another unarmed black man at the hands of police has torn the skin off the age-old wound of racism and revealed the process of dehumanization that continues to be the deep fault line in American culture.
The word crisis comes directly from ancient Greek healers, who used the term to define a turning point in the course of a disease. In America, the persistent disease involves systemic racism and deadly injustice. We are now at a tipping point when it comes to the very essence of democracy, but we are also in a struggle for the soul of humanity.
