Descriptive & prescriptive Qur’an: Talk 1 – Die before you Die

The discourse presents an exposition on death as a key issue in the conundrum of existence. The phenomena of birth and death are one of several key pairs in the map of existence. The discourse serves to reflect upon what is the appropriate response to these key modulations. The ground of the inquisition revolves around three questions: Who am I, who is God or the essence, what is death? The discourse presents the interrelation and particularity of these three issues, broadening the field of inquiry towards the meaning of death. Various references to contemporary areas of interest such as Near Death Experiences and the multifaceted implications on human consciousness these exposures may engender. There-forward the core dimension of the exposition is explored in the timeless injunction of ‘inner death’ or ‘death before death’.  The Original Prophetic teachings, allegory and the prescriptive and descriptive nature of selected Qur’anic revelations are interspersed with select Sufi insights, presenting a rich tapestry of keys and sign posts that reflect the inherent design of human interaction with life, its connection to the ethical and cosmic possibilities available to human consciousness in being enlivened & aligned with the inner dimension by the prophetic model of, ‘Die before you die.’
