166 Dr Jason Zuidema, Executive Director, North American Maritime Ministry Association

We continue the discussion about; what is a fair future for seafarers? Dr Jason Zuidema, Executive Director, North American Maritime Ministry Association, NAMMA, share his view on what we need to do to make seafarers keyworkers. He says it's about respect and using the instruments already in place. Abandonment in 2021 is a disgrace. Also, seafarers must be able to trust that they get paid. Jason thinks seafaring it's an honourable profession. Seafarers are very proud to be seafarers; it's the uncertainty that is wearing down. It's not the hard work or the hardship that comes with leaving loved ones; it's the uncertainty of now knowing when you come back the next time or if you get paid. In the end, Jason does a call for support of seafarers; everyone can do something to show kindness to international seafarers. Make sure you listen to the end. What is your view on what Jason says, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks for listening.
