Technological understanding for cloud seeding to create artificial snow or rain is officially documented in the 1940s. Government programs named Stormfury and Popeye operated in the 1960s, the latter being used during the Vietnam war. In the previous decade from 2010-2020, conversations on weather modification, alteration and control have become public. Proposals have suggested blocking out the sun and spraying chemicals from jet planes in the atmosphere, all in the name of fighting global warming or climate change. Interestingly though, aerosol dispersal may have the opposite effect and trap heat, therefore creating true manmade warming.
