This week Zoe and Claire discuss women executed as witches - including 10 women executed as #witches in Dumfries, the 81 Prestonpans witches, and the extraordinary pardon granted to them by their local Burgh. We also discuss statues to women - in light of the recent controversy over the memorial to Mary Wollstonecraft - and 18th century writer and philosopher who wrote about the rights of women. How should women be memorialised? We also hear about the great work done by retired German pastor Hartmut Hegeler to get “exonerations” for German women killed as witches.
