Meet Christelle Kocher, Couture’s Modernist

Christelle Kocher is the founder of the Paris-based couture-meets-streetwear label, Koché. Two months after Bronwyn Cosgrave conducted this interview with her in New York City, Christelle received one of the fashion industry’s highest honors - the ANDAM Award. Christelle’s career changed dramatically. The fashion tycoon, Renzo Rosso, backed Koché. After that, Christelle was appointed to be Emilio Pucci’s first ever guest designer. Christelle explains how she originated Koché and how she balances designing her brand with her work as the artistic director of Maison Lemarié. This venerable embroidery house is owned by Chanel. Christelle explains how she works alongside Chanel’s creative director, Virginie Viard to beautify Chanel couture with Masion Le Marie’s artisans and how the late Karl Lagerfeld was a generous mentor.
