Ep. 89 Surviving a plane crash

In this week’s episode, I share a personal story about surviving a plane crash. But don't worry, it’s not what you might think – this crash involved my remote-controlled airplane, a birthday gift that quickly became a learning experience. Episode Highlights: The Gift: Received a remote-controlled airplane for my birthday in June. Excitement of flying it for the first time at age 56. The First Flight: Kept the plane in SAFE mode for the first flight. Managed to get the plane up in the air and land it successfully. The Second Flight and Crash: Got overconfident and switched to intermediate mode. Challenges of controlling the plane when it’s flying towards you. Catastrophic crash during landing, resulting in significant damage. The Aftermath: Initial frustration and disappointment with the crash. Encounter with experienced RC flyers at the park, including David. Advice from David and the realization that crashes are part of the learning process. Recovery and Lessons Learned: Fixing the plane with Gorilla Glue. Gained deeper understanding of the plane’s mechanics and improved flying skills. David became my flying coach, offering guidance and support. Business Lessons from the Crash: Importance of mastering the fundamentals. SAFE mode, while helpful, can also be a crutch. Growth often involves a cycle of crashing and learning. Breaking things can lead to better understanding. Value of having a knowledgeable coach. Application to Business: Dealing with revenue decline. Breaking through a sales plateau. Navigating a launch that didn’t go as planned.
