E135: Overwhelm As A Messenger, Finding Safety In Your Body

In this solo episode, we’re diving deep into the experience of overwhelm—what it really is, where it comes from, and how to begin transforming it. Overwhelm isn’t just about having too much on your plate; it’s often your body’s protective response to unresolved fears or past experiences. It’s a part of you signaling that it feels unsafe.I’ll explore how childhood experiences can shape your nervous system’s response to stress, like growing up in a chaotic or high-pressure environment where you learned to suppress emotions or strive for perfection to feel safe. These patterns often carry into adulthood, leaving us feeling stuck or flooded in situations that don’t seem to warrant such intense reactions. Most importantly, I’ll share somatic practices to help you reconnect with your body and create a felt sense of safety, such as:Visualizing unconditional love and nurturance to soothe the part of you that feels unsafe.Reassuring your inner child and offering the comfort they needed back then.Using grounding techniques like the Butterfly Hug to calm your nervous system.Practicing gratitude for your body’s attempts to protect you.Overwhelm isn’t a sign that you’re broken—it’s a message that your body is asking for care and attention. By learning to listen to and respond to this message, you can begin to heal and reclaim your sense of peace.Whether you’ve struggled with overwhelm for years or just want tools to handle life’s challenges more effectively, this episode is packed with insights and actionable practices to help you thrive.Let’s journey together to turn overwhelm into an opportunity for growth and self-compassion.And As I promised, a book that i have read about this subject that I think might help....
