#094 | To beat your anxiety, have more courage, not less fear

There's a common misconception that in order to overcome anxiety, you need to have less fear. However, the world is a scary place and with challenges and threats coming our way every so often, we should feel scared sometimes. It's a natural response to keep us safe! So what is the trick to overcoming anxiety? Well, it's not to reduce your levels of fear, but more so to increase your levels of courage. Clinical psychologist Jordan Peterson reveals this in one of his podcast episodes and lectures, whereby he explains how by harnessing the courage in us, we see that even though a threat may stay the same, our perception of our ability to handle it increases, thus helping us realise how strong we really are to fight against this big, scary world. He suggests using fear to push yourself forward. On the podcast this episode, Fatimah explains how this very train of thought has helped her to overcome her anxiety herself.
