Olivarius is Assistant Professor of History at Stanford University where she focuses on the antebellum South, Greater Caribbean, slavery, and disease. Her book, Necropolis: Disease, Power, and Capitalism in the Cotton Kingdom, is forthcoming from Harvard University Press.
