ATOOC: Landing Problems

In this episode of Air Traffic Out Of Control, we listen in on several situations involving crash landings.  Not only are these scenarios terrifying for pilots and passengers, they can be very tense for controllers as they try to organize safety and rescue resources on the ground, while communicating with other incoming and outgoing aircraft about the disruption. First, an aircraft makes a crash landing at Trenton, New Jersey and the tower struggles to manage the fallout. Next, a Cessna pilot communicates with the tower in Chattanooga about an emergency landing he plans to undertake on the grass due to faulty landing gear.
