Do psychological factors contribute to athletes getting injured?

This month's AISTS Sports Medicine Podcast will be looking at injuries from a different angle - a psychological point of view. Most of the time, when we think about an athlete’s physical injury, we tend to assume that the cause of this injury is related to a physical factor. Did the athlete forget to warm-up? Is it the type of training? What type of recovery methods are being used? But, what if in some cases, psychological factors are at the source of physical injuries? What if stress factors have an impact on an athlete’s physical health? Andreas Blattner and Rita Pivoriunaite, Class of 2018, look into these issues and provide solutions with an interview with Swiss professional tennis player and former world # 9 on the WTA tour, Timea Bacsinszky.
