Exploring Expectations on Mothers and Women with Ashley Audrain - The Push

Ashley Audrain, New York Times bestselling author of psychological drama, joins Linda and Drew At Home to talk about her first novel, The Push. The book is about a woman whose experience of motherhood is nothing at all what she had hoped for and, instead, everything she feared. Ashley talks about how she made a career change when her motherhood journey began and how, through her book’s characters, she challenged the “perfect” picture of being a mom which taught her to be more empathetic towards mothers whose experiences fall outside of the “norm”. The Push book dives into topics of societal expectations on women, generational trauma and how love and fear are deeply intertwined.
