78 Calm

If you love sun-kissed, dreamy music, there's a fair chance that your music collection contains something by Fukagawa Kiyotaka, aka Calm. The Japanese producer made his debut way back in 1997, joining the dots between nu-jazz, breakbeat & deep house. He has delivered a dizzying number of albums over the last 2 decades, mostly on his own Music Corporation imprint, and more recently on the excellent Hell Yeah! Recordings. The label, a perfect fit for Calm, being a place to find some of the best recent “Balearica”. His album, “By Your Side”, supported by scene big hitters Phil Mison, Chris Coco & Mixmaster Morris."The concept of Balearic is still abstract to me," Kiyotaka admits. "There are so many things I do not understand, so I am still collecting records and absorbing information about it like a sponge. I have never been to Ibiza, so I hope to go over and DJ there soon."We think you’ll agree, after hearing this mix, that Calm’s understanding of Balearic is just perfect.
