Back to Love (Athenaeum, Hacienda & Home Nightclub Classics)(Part 3 - The Hacienda 1993) - Mixed by Mark Anthony (February 2021) Finishing my trilogy of nostalgic nights at the grand daddy of all Manchester night clubs, the legendary 'Hacienda'. I never got to DJ at the Hacienda (well once at a private function downstairs in the 'Gay Traitor' does that count?) But let's face it when you have Russ Marland & Mike Pickering on a Friday and the legendary partnership of Tom Wainwright & Graeme Park on a Saturday the only place you ever wanted to be in the Hacienda was on the dancefloor! I missed the early years as I was only a puppy in short trousers when it opened so I started going in 1992, but for me it was 1993-1995 that really stood out as the ultimate Hacienda years. The music, the atmosphere, Tom & Graeme working the night, it was just magical. I remember one night being stood outside were those huge fire doors and you could hear those David Morales 'Def Mix' deep basslines coming from inside, it was like a cathedral of sound... There will never be another like it. This mix features the sounds and tracks that I loved and were played there in 1993. It's not necessarily the big anthems but for me personally every record just encapsulates the sound that was 'The Hacienda'.
