15: Úna-Minh Kavanagh

Hitting start on controller two this week on Be Grand is author and content creator  Úna-Minh Kavanagh. Úna-Minh is the author of Anseo which is a memoir of a journey which started in Vietnam and documents a childhood spent in Kerry where her mother and grandfather would instill a love of the irish language. Inspired to write this love letter to irelsnd after a horrific racist incident in Dublin Úna-Minh talks to Andy about how from growing up a woman of colour in school to her time engaging online she is more than capable and practiced with dealing with trolls who just want to cause pain. Also Úna-Minh chats why the irish language is so important to her and why we need to celebrate life while we’re still here. Plus as a dedicated member of the twitch community Úna-Minh talks a love of video games and how she uses them to spread messages of what’s important to her. An absolute badass who is dedicated to no matter how hard a nasty a bad guy is, be it bowser or a bully , in the end hate will never win.  All this and the return of the dreaded tape test.

Om Podcasten

Andy Gaffney is not very clever. And not in a cute “How old were you when you realised…” way – more in a “didn’t know Barcelona was in Spain” way. But maybe he can fix that! BE GRAND: THE LEAVING CERT RESIT is the show where Andy invites very clever talented people onto the show to relive their school days, talk about how they ended doing what they do and along the way, they can earn some completely pointless points by answering Leaving Cert questions from the year they did it. All in the hope that Andy’s sponge-like brain soaks up this new knowledge! That and provide some sweet sweet light entertainment of course…
