Ep. 80: Modelling industry stereotypes and curly hair standards with model and law student Paris Omar

This week’s episode is something a bit different. Instead of the usual audio conversation I decided to host my first live podcast on Instagram. So if you haven’t checked it out and you want to see my guest and I in the flesh, go to @beautymepodcast on Insta and you’ll see it on my IGTV. My guest is Paris Omar, a Liverpudlian law student and model. Over the past year or so we have often chatted about our mixed heritage, our love for The Real Housewives of Atlanta and shared our thoughts on how others view us, particularly when it comes to our hair. I wanted to ask Paris on to the show to discuss how she experiences the modelling industry as a mixed race woman, how the industry has affected how she views herself and her beauty and why straight hair is still viewed as more sexy and glamorous by the media at large. You can find Paris on Instagram @itsparischanel and I hope you love this episode if you do, please like, review and subscribe. Thanks for listening!
