What is Becoming Europe?

My name is Casey and this is Becoming Europe. I’m a current PhD student at the University of Pittsburgh studying French Studies, specifically the relationship France has with its migrant population. After studying different national and international policies proclaiming the sense of a unified cultural European identity and a sense of welcoming migrants with open arms, I created this podcast in the effort to interview those who are directly affected by these policies, migrants themselves and organizations, in order to further shed light on the real-life impacts and risks of these policies.  Join me in an effort to humanize the intangibility of national/international policy and see exactly what are the stakes in Becoming Europe.

Om Podcasten

My name is Casey and this is Becoming Europe, a podcast delving into the real-life impacts of European migrant and refugee policy to re-humanize the stories the media and government tell. Each month, we provide an interview with volunteers, social workers, and non-profit organizations working hands-on with the affected populations, as well as episodes on current events and our own misconceptions of the refugee “crisis”. Join us as we widen our perspective on this often desensitized subject and attempt to break down possible solutions into tangible steps we can all achieve.
