E61: You need to have THIS conversation with your backer
I took this clip from a live webinar where a player came on and was expressing his concerns around a recent downswing. He was backed by another player in the industry. And what I started to get the sense of as we were talking was that his real fear was that he didn't know how much longer he could keep losing or breaking even and still have the trust of his backer. So I took a pretty spontaneous turn in this conversation, and I've never actually spoken about the topic in this way. But in this clip, I give you the framework for the conversation that you have to have with your backer in order to make sure that there is mutual trust. I think this is the most important conversation that a player can initiate with a backer. Speaking from someone who has staked hundreds of players in the industries over the last 5 to 10 years, this is the thing that if a player were to come to me and say this, it would deepen my trust exponentially. So I wanted to give this to you guys so that you have this framework. You can't really fake it because the type of awareness it takes to communicate this type of thing cannot be faked.
