Indie Movie Review of the Month: Free Skate

Today I'm back with my indie movie of the month. Covering independent films has been good to me and I want to make sure I am reviewing at least one indie film per month on the podcast. Free Skate is a movie about a young woman who flees Russia to escape the inhumane treatment she received as a member of the figure skating program. The movie is written by former gymnast Veera Vilo and draws from some of her personal experiences and the experiences of her peers and colleagues. Consider this another entry in the #MeToo movement's wave of women's survival stories.  Though the movie is set in Finland and Russia, the primary language spoken is English.  Starring: Veera Vilo Directed by: Roope Olenius Written by: Veera Vilo Quick synopsis: A promising figure skater flees from Russia to Finland to escape her inhumane circumstances.
