Adam Skelly of Adamson BBQ - Challenging the Government 'Lockdowns' in Canada
Adam Skelly is the founder and operator of Adamson BBQ, a texas-style BBQ in Ontario Canada. In November of 2020, Adam defied the Ontario lockdown orders to continue operating his restaurants, and to engage in civil disobedience, protesting the unprecedented lockdown orders that have done tremendous harm to small businesses, their owners and staff, and which he felt were an infringement on his (and everyone else's) rights. Adam was arrested, charged, and billed $187,000 by the City of Toronto, for the expense they incurred by sending in the police presence to arrest him and control the situation. I find Adam's actions to be incredibly courageous, and I think he's right to both question the legal right of governments to impose on freedoms in this way, and ask serious questions about the justifications for doing so. Adam is doing what he believes is right, and fighting to have the merits of the governments actions be scrutinized, so that truth can come to light, and justice can be upheld. These are admirable motivations in my book, so I thought it would be interesting to have him on for a chat about his journey and the details surrounding his situation.
