"College... it's not the only option... we have to give students all of the options." Danielle Sims Brooks Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs, Jefferson Community & Technical College "We have to take our career paths in our own hands... ." Dr. Darius Brooks Executive Director, Kentuckiana Works It's a Family Affair! This week, we are joined by Dr. Darius and Mrs. Danielle Brooks, and we are schooled on the challenges they encounter working in higher education. We discuss the culture shock of college, de-stigmatizing career pathways, and the need for a collaborative, proactive relationship between K-12 and post-secondary educational institutions. Through it all, they emphasize the importance of staying connected to happiness, the role of self care in leadership (come on, professional sisterhood circles), having healthy work/life boundaries, and always connecting the dots to get to your goals.
