“Socioemotional learning is at the forefront of all that I do.” Tiayana Logan 7th grade Math, Special Education Liaison, Counselor, Program Assistant, Entrepreneur IG: @TeachMsLogan “With all that’s going on in the world today, we have a huge platform to make change.” As a 17 year old senior with WNBA aspirations, Ms. Tiayana Logan was offered a job (at her high school) as a teaching assistant… and her love for the classroom has been growing ever since. As she reflects on her educational & entrepreneurial journeys, Ms. Logan discusses her transition from a community environment in her Brooklyn school to experiencing racism as a student in Atlanta (“did your mother do your homework for you?”), how being a student athlete shaped her teacher identity (come on sportsmanship!), and the impact of growing up surrounded by positive Black educator role models.
