After overhearing a teacher tell his mother that he could rise to any occasion, he believed her, and it changed his perspective on education and what he could accomplish. "We're trying to reset the system." As a career changer who prayed for guidance, Eugene's passion is to repair the trauma and create safe spaces for ALL students to learn. This extends beyond the classroom. He is the visionary founder of Young Black Scholar and the author of "Young Black Boy" and "Young Black Girl" books, works designed to encourage Black and Brown students. His dedication is further exemplified by his nonprofit initiative, "Competitive By Nature," a fusion of fitness and community service activities.
