Fatphobia & Finding Hope with Vinny Welsby

CONTENT NOTE: In this episode we will discuss emotional abuse from an older partner. Welcome Vinny Welsby to the Body Grievers Club podcast. Vinny is a fatphobia activist, educator, and diversity trainer. They dealt with many body image issues growing up, such as poverty and not having enough food, having a fat body and not feeling like they should eat because of it, living in a homeless shelter, and abuse from a much older boyfriend. Finny saw a message online that it was okay to be fat, and there was no turning back. We’ll have a good discussion about body grief, hope, Santa, pronouns, and multiple marginalizations. Vinny Welsby (they/them) is a world-leading expert on dismantling fatphobia and diet-culture, TEDx speaker, and best-selling author. They went from being homeless, abused with self-esteem that was achingly low into the courageous fat activist and change maker they are today. Victoria helps people fall in love with themselves and is dedicated to shifting the way society views fat bodies.
