Bside Incoming: Hiatt dB

Bside Incoming: Hiatt dB It’s with great pleasure that we bring you another amazing artist from further a field in our ‘Bside Incoming’ series. An accomplished percussionist and DJ turned producer, and of course a man with an impressive vinyl collection: Hiatt dB. This is a Bside showcase all the way from New Orleans, where he began his career performing percussion and holding down the decks before founding his very own party series and record label. It’s a city of rich musical history in which Hiatt dB has built his own soundsystem which made its Mardi Gras maiden voyage this year. You’ll find him broadcasting regularly on WUTL New Orleans 91.5 (8-10pm Saturdays) as well as promoting some great dance music from across the Gulf South via his Mystery Zone Records. https://mysteryzonerecords.bandcamp.com He is actually the first American to release on Rhythm Section, our own first feature of the ‘Bside of...’ series. The B2 track ‘Everyday Break’ is an energetic breaks track that only serves to prove his pedigree as a percussionist: https://youtu.be/3er8-j6Oubw Expect nothing less than the funkiest of good vibes, a globally influenced soundtrack of soul. What you gonna do with all that funk inside his trunk? « Share the music, share the message » Check out Hiatt dB's release with Rhythm Section - https://wearerhythmsection.bandcamp.com/album/palimpsest Give his instagram a follow too - https://www.instagram.com/hiatt_db/ Thanks to Molly Hickey for the beautiful artwork as always. www.instagram.com/mollyth.art/ Follow the Bside instagram for updates/news/vinyl and general music chat - www.instagram.com/bsidepodcasts/

Om Podcasten

Bside podcasts DJ's showcase and speak a little about their favourite tracks from the B-side of their records. We endeavour to broadcast the best of the B-side: a bi-weekly invitation into the impressive record collections of some of our favourite selectors. An exploration into the the back-catalogues, the deepest depths, the darkest crevices of their collections. Returning with the spoils of this venture: their most cherished records and hidden gems, from the go-to club weapons to the rarely heard home-listening records, and everything in between. Music is for sharing. 'By the early sixties, the song on the A-side was the 'hit' song that the record company wanted radio stations to play. The B-side would contain less radio friendly and less popular tracks. In our eyes the B-side is a true reflection of the producers taste in music, there is more personality on that side of the record'.
