Bside Incoming: Nabihah Iqbal Formerly known by her alias ‘Throwing Shade’ under which she has released some lovely, lovely music: https://soundcloud.com/nabihahiqbal/sweet-tooth , Nabihah Iqbal currently operates under her birth name, opening her account in 2017 with a phenomenal album (recorded entirely herself) on Ninja Tune entitled ‘Weighing of the Heart’. https://soundcloud.com/nabihahiqbal/sets/weighing-of-the-heart-1 A biography by the label reveals a rich intellectual history beyond her recognition as a top producer, a versatile disk jockey and a dedicated music digger. Her remarkable accolades are born from a dedicated passion for music, thoroughly enriched by her formative years studying History and Ethnomusicology at SOAS, where Iqbal's enthusiasm galvanised a truly global exploration of sound. The result is a myriad of influences that truly shine through in the depth and diversity of her taste and style. "Re-connecting the worlds of introspective, innovative guitar bands with the rhythms and club-born structures of dance music”. Nabihah could often be found presenting on NTS, BBC Asian Network, or BBC Radio 1, DJing or performing live across the world’s finest clubs, art institutions and festivals, and seemingly indulging in a little record hunting during her travels. Here you will find her showcasing a mere morsel of the of the many treasures from her adventures to record shops worldwide... strictly Bside of course… Downtempo Disco, New Wave, 80s Synth Pop, and a very healthy dose of some very tasty reggae and dub. Om Podcasten

Bside podcasts DJ's showcase and speak a little about their favourite tracks from the B-side of their records. We endeavour to broadcast the best of the B-side: a bi-weekly invitation into the impressive record collections of some of our favourite selectors. An exploration into the the back-catalogues, the deepest depths, the darkest crevices of their collections. Returning with the spoils of this venture: their most cherished records and hidden gems, from the go-to club weapons to the rarely heard home-listening records, and everything in between. Music is for sharing. 'By the early sixties, the song on the A-side was the 'hit' song that the record company wanted radio stations to play. The B-side would contain less radio friendly and less popular tracks. In our eyes the B-side is a true reflection of the producers taste in music, there is more personality on that side of the record'.
