Bside Incoming: Rubi

Bside Incoming: Rubi Now based in Berlin, Rubi was recently running her own 'Out of Sight' event series in Yangon while teaching tech as a professor in Myanmar. As well as co-founding the Kommuna Tapes record label, founded in 2016 under the same name as the successful Barcelona event series, she is also a resident with RA+RE and Rings of Neptune. Her YouTube channel is an absolute gold mine for the deep, dubby, and beautifully bizarre: https://www.youtube.com/user/itsmerubi/featured Each one of her mixes is as cool and clinical as it is richly warm, packed full of new musical discoveries and much cherished records. Her episode of Bside Incoming is no exception; a downtempo masterclass of vibrant ambient layers, electro grooves and irresistible breaks, with lots of bleeps and bloops. Check out Rubi's Soundcloud @itsmerubi Thanks to Molly Hickey for the beautiful artwork as always. www.instagram.com/mollyth.art/ Follow the Bside Instagram for updates/news/vinyl and general music chat: www.instagram.com/bsidepodcasts/

Om Podcasten

Bside podcasts DJ's showcase and speak a little about their favourite tracks from the B-side of their records. We endeavour to broadcast the best of the B-side: a bi-weekly invitation into the impressive record collections of some of our favourite selectors. An exploration into the the back-catalogues, the deepest depths, the darkest crevices of their collections. Returning with the spoils of this venture: their most cherished records and hidden gems, from the go-to club weapons to the rarely heard home-listening records, and everything in between. Music is for sharing. 'By the early sixties, the song on the A-side was the 'hit' song that the record company wanted radio stations to play. The B-side would contain less radio friendly and less popular tracks. In our eyes the B-side is a true reflection of the producers taste in music, there is more personality on that side of the record'.
