Bside Incoming: Shy One

Bside Incoming: Shy One This instalment of the Bside Incoming series comes from London. A DJ and Producer of equally impressive measure, affiliated to the Touching Bass and BBZ collectives, a regular on Balamii Radio, and a truly passionate collector with a deep, deep knowledge of music. It’s a pleasure to welcome… Shy One. From DJing on community radio at the age of 14 and warming up for her father, to cementing herself as a main player on line-ups at incredible parties across London and beyond, she already has an unquestionable pedigree behind the decks. Her productions are always keen to keep pace with the capital’s thriving grime scene, but her tracks always stand out from the crowd and her beats are authentic to her many musical influences, this episode being testament to that wide array of inspiration. Her tastes glide across styles, while always sticking to her own sound: the hypnotic rhythms and irresistible broken beats that have deeply inspired her, and translated through to her outstanding discography. What genre is her music? Who cares? Shy One knows what she loves, and we love it too! Check out her collaboration with Josey Rebelle for her album from last year: https://soundcloud.com/timsweeney/shy-one-route-ii-romeos Come on, take a glimpse into the impressive record collection of Shy One. Hear the records that mean the most to her, what makes her tick, how she relaxes, and a little philosophy behind her vinyl collecting and production styles. Jazz, Soul, Hip-Hop, Grime, House and everything in between. Om Podcasten

Bside podcasts DJ's showcase and speak a little about their favourite tracks from the B-side of their records. We endeavour to broadcast the best of the B-side: a bi-weekly invitation into the impressive record collections of some of our favourite selectors. An exploration into the the back-catalogues, the deepest depths, the darkest crevices of their collections. Returning with the spoils of this venture: their most cherished records and hidden gems, from the go-to club weapons to the rarely heard home-listening records, and everything in between. Music is for sharing. 'By the early sixties, the song on the A-side was the 'hit' song that the record company wanted radio stations to play. The B-side would contain less radio friendly and less popular tracks. In our eyes the B-side is a true reflection of the producers taste in music, there is more personality on that side of the record'.
