Bside Incoming: XNTRS

Bside Incoming: XNTRS This weekend we bring you a landmark episode. Between our intimate live recordings and the increased output of Bside Incoming episodes during lockdown, we have now reached number 50! Firstly, we would like to thank the ever growing community of music lovers that have shown appreciation for our Bside mixes. So, to the 563 Soundcloud followers with over 24,600 total listens, to the instagram and facebook followers, we really appreciate all the love you have shown us! It has also been really beautiful to see Bside taking a more global turn with the last 3 episodes being Afrobot’s tasty broadcast from Rotterdam, JKRIV giving us a belter of a show from NYC, and Footshooter bringing the jazz from London Town. And, without further ado, we present you Episode 50 from our very first Russian Selector, a beautifully eclectic mixtape from Moscow’s XNTRS. Alena Rakova (XNTRS) initially came to our attention through a stunning selection of deep and energetic tracks on our past guest Mosaic Man’s Astro FM (an amazing mix series with the Bside stamp of approval). Digging a little deeper and Alena has put together some equally impressive sets on some of Europes premier platforms, Brussel’s Kiosk Radio and Paris's Le Mellotron to name a few. But it’s back in Moscow’s Powerhouse as a resident DJ where she has made her mark with a distinctive, experimental, and expressive style, a showcase of her particular love of the “ethnic electronic sound”. Unrestrained by genre boundaries and with a keen ear for the bizarre but familiar feeling tracks, a passion for music with a record collection to match, and a preponderance of hidden gems and influences from the world over. XNTRS encapsulates the Bside ethos, the search for new and exciting music, so what better way to mark the half century! Enjoy! Thanks to Molly Hickey for the beautiful artwork as always. www.instagram.com/mollyth.art/ Check XNTRS soundcloud here: https://soundcloud.com/xntrs Follow the Bside instagram for updates/news/vinyl and general music chat - www.instagram.com/bsidepodcasts/ Follow the Bside facebook here - www.facebook.com/BsidePodcasts/

Om Podcasten

Bside podcasts DJ's showcase and speak a little about their favourite tracks from the B-side of their records. We endeavour to broadcast the best of the B-side: a bi-weekly invitation into the impressive record collections of some of our favourite selectors. An exploration into the the back-catalogues, the deepest depths, the darkest crevices of their collections. Returning with the spoils of this venture: their most cherished records and hidden gems, from the go-to club weapons to the rarely heard home-listening records, and everything in between. Music is for sharing. 'By the early sixties, the song on the A-side was the 'hit' song that the record company wanted radio stations to play. The B-side would contain less radio friendly and less popular tracks. In our eyes the B-side is a true reflection of the producers taste in music, there is more personality on that side of the record'.
