Waiting on God feat. John Sumereau (Stacey's Husband)

“The silence is deafening.” Seeing as he’s the most important person in the world to me, I bribed my hubby with a butter toffee steamer into being my first ever podcast guest! How do you know what to do when you’re waiting for God to tell you and only hear silence? John’s discernment lasted six years as he sought his vocation. He visited multiple monasteries including the only Carthusian monastery in North America. This is his story before we met…our story of dating and marriage will have to wait for a future episode. Topics discussed: What discernment means and why ALL Christians should ALWAYS be discerning Carthusian spirituality and daily life Why God doesn’t waste time The importance of persistence when you’re unsure of God’s will “The grass ain’t greener anywhere” when it comes to vocation The deep peace of living God’s will How to let go of comparison when it feels like everyone else knows what they’re doing  Links: The Confessions of St. Augustine An Infinity of Little Hours Into Great Silence The Divine Office- Liturgy of the Hours

Hearing God's calls for our lives isn't always easy. How do we interpret and understand what God is calling us to, both in our vocation and in other life choices? Join Stacey Sumereau on coffee dates with Catholic friends for insight and inspiring guidance. Stacey toured with Broadway shows before finding out that her dreams weren't making her happy. Her discernment of her future took a radically different turn when Lifetime documented her journey on the reality TV series "The Sisterhood: Becoming Nuns." Since then she hasn't stopped searching for God's will! More on discernment at staceysumereau.com Original music by JF Church.
