Demetrio "Dee" Kerrison

Ep.188 Demetrio "Dee" Kerrison. Born in Harlem, NY, he now resides in Los Angeles. In 2001 after a visit to the Studio Museum of Harlem to view an exhibition titled “Freestyle” and curated by Thelma Golden and Christine Y. Kim, he decided to begin building an art collection with a particular focus on African Diasporic artists. Since then, Dee and his wife Gianna Drake Kerrison have built an eclectic contemporary art collection which foregrounds emerging and ultra contemporary figurative painters. Abstract, sculpture, conceptual, and photographic works are also featured in the collection. They are active patrons, and they site on many art focused boards both past and present to include William H. Johnson Foundation, Mistake Room, Noah Purifoy Foundation, the Hammer Museum Board of Advisors and Mike Kelly Foundation.
