288 - Getting Started in Guitar Gear Culture

Brian welcomes Blake back for an all new episode of the Chasing Tone podcast.

A simple question from a presumably new guitarist sparked an interesting conversation about how we all had to start somewhere. While some info in the gear world can seem old hat to the veteran tone chasers, we have to remember what it was like for all of us in the beginning. The guys expand on the concept.

Blake’s been on the mend and been unable to enjoy some new gear. He finally got his hands on a new Satellite Adam Amp that has all the tone he has been looking for. Brian also got some new gear from JHS. He talks about the Colourbox and his thoughts on it.

Components. Does the size of a transformer in an amp make a difference one way or the other? Do cloth wires sound better than standard wiring? Is hand wired gear better than machine produced circuit boards? Opinions are shared.

Brace yourselves, Winter NAMM is coming, Weather Apps and health warnings, and Brian goes in full "ok boomer" mode. All in this week’s Chasing Tone Podcast.
