Police shoplifting directive wrong and not appropriate - PM

"We expect our police to tackle crime everywhere," that said by Prime Minister Christopher Luxon as he and the Police Commissioner moved to reassure the public about a new police directive that's sparked confusion and concern. The directive told officers not to investigate allegations of shoplifting below $500. While petrol drive offs below $150 and online scams under $1000 would also not be investigated.
