Amanda - 4 Arrests, Feelings and Self-Trust

“I was educated and I had a mortgage. My life was great. How could I be an alcoholic? That doesn’t make any sense.”  Host of “I have 12 Questions - Conversations about the Sober Life”, Amanda Patton is 10 years into sobriety and has a passion for sharing stories of recovery “sans labels, dogma, stigma or shame.”  Yes please!  While our stories of drinking and sobriety/sober•ish could not be more different, what we do share is our passion to provide a safe, curious place for people to figure out their relationship with alcohol.  It was such a delightful conversation as Amanda is honest, vulnerable and finds humor along the way.  She shares how she didnt start drinking until she was almost 30 and then it was on like donkey kong leading to a DUI within 6 months and eventually 4 arrests but even that didn't stop her. We talk about how we adjust our goals and our life around our drinking and that whether you're homeless or a millionaire, the realization that living a life out of alignment with who you want to be and your drinking doesn't discriminate. She shares how sobriety is hard but so is drinking your life away so which hard leads to bigger, better things.  She shares that at her core is a need to remove shame in all things and help the underdog, knowing you may only get one shot to create a safe place for someone to find the help they need.  For more on Amanda and her podcast, visit https://www.ihave12questions.com to listen to all her amazing content and give her a follow on instagram @ihave12questions.  If you are sober curious and would love to explore what it looks like for you please visit www.soberishuprising.com  --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/soberishuprising/message

Welcome to Sober·ish Uprising, a space where we share all versions of sobriety. We believe labeling sobriety as black and white is a limitation to those who know they want to do things differently and complete sobriety doesn’t work for them. On Sober·ish uprising we share sober·ish stories and the freedom that comes when we say no to booze. Hosted by Holly Krivokapich, a certified coach and former heavy drinker, who started a sober·ish journey in 2021 and her world has never been the same. www.soberishuprising.com
