Elizabeth -  Compartmentalizing our alcohol consumption

Growing up the daughter of an alcoholic, drinking was never something that was appealing to Elizabeth until it became part of her job. Drinking is a part of our working culture but in this case it was literally her job as she worked in the alcohol branding industry. At the same time her career was taking off, her father was waiting for a liver transplant from his drinking.  Compartmentalizing the consequences of alcohol on her father’s health and her work promoting the product that was killing him worked for a long time until it didn't. She shares the moment she was drinking whiskey with a client and couldn't even drink it down and that was when she knew she must make a change. We talk about the billion dollar industry designed to make us identify with a brand and buy it again, again and again and how “pick your poison” is a real thing. She shares that although sober·ish doesn't cure mental health, it is one of her many tools in her toolkit to face depression (reminder alcohol is a depressant!)  I loved hearing her story because so many of us who started a sober·ish journey did so because our actions were not aligned with who we want to be. This is when we create long-lasting change and transformation in our life. If you are interested in exploring your own sober·ish journey, shoot me a message at holly@hollykrivo.com. Welcome to Sober·ish Uprising, a space where we share all versions of sobriety. We believe labeling sobriety as black and white is a limitation to those who know they want to do things differently and complete sobriety doesn’t work for them. On Sober·ish uprising we share sober·ish stories and the freedom that comes when we say no to booze. Hosted by Holly Krivokapich, a certified coach and former heavy drinker, who started a sober·ish journey in 2021 and her world has never been the same. www.soberishuprising.com
