Maddie Ziegler Interview: The Fallout, West Side Story & Passion for Acting

I know it’s only the end of January, but trust me when I tell you Maddie Ziegler’s new movie is a special one. I had the opportunity to catch The Fallout at SXSW 2021, and the movie has been on my mind ever since. Had it received a 2021 release, it likely would have been a favorite of the year. Now I'm hopeful that will happen in 2022.The film marks Megan Park’s feature screenwriting and directing debut. Ziegler stars alongside Jenna Ortega as Mia and Vada, respectively. The two aren’t especially close, but when they find themselves in the high school restroom together during a shooting, the shared experience sparks a strong connection that plays a significant role in their efforts to cope with what happened, move in new directions, and attempt to forge forward.Ziegler’s got a staggering list of accomplishments for someone who’s only 19-years-old, and she shows no signs of slowing down while trying to make the most of both of her passions, dancing and acting. On this episode of Collider Ladies Night, Ziegler looks back on her journey with Dance Moms, discovering her passion for acting, scoring a role in Steven Spielberg's West Side Story, working with Ortega on The Fallout, and so much more!
