Juanjo Guarnido

Today, we're talking to the visual mind behind some of modern comics' richest tapestries: none other than Juanjo Guarnido.  You likely know him from the gritty, cinematic pages of the unforgettable neo-noir Blacksad. This anthology series, where humans are portrayed by animal species in myriad creative ways, won 2 Eisner Awards and the Angouleme Prize for Artwork.  Of course he had quite an interesting journey leading up to this book, and I’m excited to discuss the path of his career. A Spanish native, Juanjo broke in through work at Disney animation helping animate many beloved villains from classic films like Tarzan, Hercules, and Atlantis: The Lost Empire. More recently he has helped create Les Indes Fourbes (The Treacherous Indies), and we will learn today about what other stories he has in store. -- Presented by: Lake Como Comic Art Festival May 17-19 2024 https://www.lccaf.com/
