S2E4: Voices of the Enslaved in Kaskaskia, IL

On this episode of Common Mystics Jennifer and Jill are led to the Illinois Mississippi Valley. In the early 18th century, the area was part of the French Empire. French settlers colonized the area and lived alongside Native Americans and enslaved peoples brought from the southern French territories. Our story takes place in 1748 at the Braseau homestead in the village of Kaskaskia where Madame Braseau would accuse Marie Jeanne, an enslaved woman, of savagely murdering her own child. Another enslaved person would bear witness to the heinous crime and testify in a court of law. But in true Common Mystics fashion, not is all as it seems. Listen in as the sisters discuss the incredible historical facts of the case as well as their own psychic impressions of the extraordinary events that took place in this unassuming location so long ago.
