Consent under the patriarchy? (W/Chanel Contos)

Today is one of those powerful conversations that’s community driven. It encompasses the theme of this show as our guest's movement for big change all started with a conversation.  Kath sits down with Chanel Contos to chat about ending rape culture to help women, men and queer people end the cycle of assault from both sides.  Chanel is an activist, educator, young Australian of the year nominee and now author of her new book “Consent Laid Bare” - a book that challenges the lingering inequality that reinforces rape culture and asks boys and men to become advocates for sex centered around intimacy rather than fuelled by aggression. Back in 2021 Channel was speaking to her friends about their experiences of sexual assault during high school. This prompted channel to take to instagram and ask other women about their own stories of sexual assault. The response snowballed and soon after she had a movement backed by many and an online petition to make consent education mandatory in Australian schools. It attracted 45,000 signatures.
