#1: Dr Anna van Heeckeren

Dr. Anna van Heeckeren is a Veterinarian and started her career doing research for cystic fibrosis, a genetic disease which affects the lungs and only occurs in humans; she brought her comparative biology mindset and could support the research team with a lot of knowledge from Veterinary medicine. After 15 years working on a human disease and many years of involvement in philanthropy, Dr. Anna started her nonprofit organization - One Health Organization. They have been supporting low income households to pay their veterinarian bills. Through this initiative, they assure that finances don't keep pet owners from preventing animal diseases and therefore contribute also to human and environmental health.Links mentioned on the episode:One Health Organization: https://onehealth.org/Special information for Covid-19: https://onehealth.org/covid-19/COVID-19 Dashboard - Johns Hopkins University (JHU): https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6Connect with Dr. Anna van Heeckeren (guest):E-mail: Dr.Anna@OneHealth.orgLinkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/annamvanheeckeren/ Connect with Sara Perestrelo (host):https://www.crackingonehealth.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/saraperestrelo/If you like today’s episode, then please subscribe and leave a review so more people can learn about the podcast.
