223: Martha Rendell

In 1907 Perth Australia was wrought with disease and society was coming down hard on mothers for the infant mortality rates. On top of this progressionists wanted to make divorce easier, while others believed it would only make adultery and child abandonment increase. This is the backdrop of the time when Martha Rendell finds herself on trial for the murder of her three step children being accused of being a master at deception of science as the autopsy's and death certificates indicated the children died as a result of diphtheria and typhoid, two known epidemics of the time.
