In 1977, at the age of 2, Nikole Betterson was involved in a car accident in Michigan with her mom and dad that killed her mom, Susan Klingel. Nikole's dad, Jarrett Betterson, showed up at Nikole's maternal grandparents just a few months later with another woman and claimed they were moving out west. The private investigator found no evidence of Nikole after early 1978. This started an investigation that saw a number of strange events but no definitive answers about what happened to Nikole.
