FBI Showing Up at Homes Over Social Media Posts

FBI agents were filmed visiting the home of a woman over a post she made on Facebook. The video has since gone viral, with people questioning whether this could violate constitutional protections on free speech. What was left out of most conversations, however, was the question of what exactly the woman posted to make the FBI visit her home. Some of the woman’s public posts include open calls for people to join a so-called jihad. The case also fits into a broader pattern. U.S. authorities seem to be showing deep concerns over a possible rise in radicalism and potential threats of terrorism. The issue also ties in with a deepening rift among Democrats, mainly around Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza, and ironically, also among conservatives who are opposed to federal authorities questioning people over their online posts. In this live Q&A with Crossroads host Joshua Philipp, we’ll discuss this topic and others, and answer questions from the audience.
