Avoiding the Revolving Door of Associates

Most law firm owners fear growth.  Or, more accurately stated, they fear growing their law firms because of the looming "RISK" they perceive inherent in adding bodies to the building.  They fear the risk of losing time.  The risk of losing clients.  The risk of losing money.  The risk of losing their reputations.  And, most certainly, they fear the risk of malpractice, grievance or BOTH. What most law firm owners have not figured out yet is that there IS a way to grow while mitigating risk.  We cannot - CANNOT - eliminate all risk in business.  Doing it all yourself presents a risk.  Doing most of the work ourselves presents risk.  Having the work done through others presents risk - the question is merely how best to mitigate that risk. And, investing the time and energy in learning how to hire well limits the risk while expanding the opportunity to enjoy owning a business.  In this episode, we cover the keys to finding that happy medium, including: How to keep good team members Why hiring a "baby lawyer" is almost never the best option Why "cheaper" is almost universally WORSE when hiring lawyers How to structure your law firm compensation to attract winners Why compensation is more than just money  How business owners can communicate value in the role for which they are hiring The need to accept what is and act accordingly Whether to add rainmakers to your law firm Understanding that people leave law firms ... and how to make peace with this reality Why the maxim "People don't quit jobs; they quit managers" is not always accurate and much MUCH more! #CrushChaos #LawFirmMentor #NeverStopGrowing
