my ummah: liberal muslims, culture, and islam

Is it cultural or is the deen? Can the deen be updated to fit the new times? What if I have liberal values and Islam goes against that, what then?  a discourse on cultural identity clashing with Islamic values, how placing culture above deen is problematic, and how it results in mass confusion amongst Muslims, as well as a half-hearted, insecure Islamic identity. Nasheed at the end of the episode is not my own work. It is called My Ummah - Sami Yusuf. Copyright: (C) 2005 Awakening Worldwide Ltd.
