Design thinking… what is it? We can’t cling to decades-old definitions of it, even if we like those better. What has it evolved to mean now? Is it a paradigm, framework, toolkit, mindset, canvas, exercises, process, approach, methodology, or something else? Is it a cottage industry and certificate factory? How is design thinking different from UCD? Most importantly, is the evangelism of design thinking helping or hurting the UX industry and our jobs? When everybody is a certified “design thinker,” do we still need CX and UX specialists? Or can anybody do our jobs? Join me for some critical thinking about design thinking.
