The Baltimore Plot

In February 1861, concerned railroad bosses learned of a plot to destroy the main route to Washington DC, in order to disrupt the inauguration of President-Elect, Abraham Lincoln. They immediately called in the country’s leading Private Detectives to help stop the attack. Allan Pinkerton, of the famous Pinkerton National Detective Agency, took two of his top agents—Kate Warne and new recruit, Harry Davies, straight to Baltimore to find out what was afoot. There, they discovered that the plot against the railroad was just the tip of the iceberg. These disgruntled Southerners would stop at nothing to prevent Lincoln from reaching Washington.
