Can Mikko Rantanen Replicate Playoff Success With Stars?
Acquired in a blockbuster move at the NHL Trade Deadline, Mikko Rantanen comes to the Dallas Stars as a legit Top 10 player in the league. The 28-year-old Finnish power forward recorded consecutive 100-point seasons in his last two full seasons with the Colorado Avalanche (2022-23 and 2023-24). But what is even more impressive is his 101 points in 81 career NHL playoff games, including 25 points in 20 games during Colorado’s run to capturing the 2022 Stanley Cup. Rantanen was admitted shocked when he was traded by the Avalanche to the Carolina Hurricanes back in January and never seemed totally settled in Raleigh. Since moving to Dallas, he is at nearly a point-per-game scoring pace, while trying to get acclimated with his new teammates. However, the question that is on everyone mind is, just how big of an impact will Mikko Rantanen be for the Stars during their 2025 Stanley Cup playoff run?
